Sweet flavor and smooth texture make it perfect for pies. Since the 1800s, sugar pie has been the standard for excellent baking, soups, and casseroles. Small 6-7″ fruits also good for fall decor and small jack o lanterns. Stores for months. Also called new England pie.
Sow outside 2-4 weeks after last spring frost date, when soil temperature is 70-90 deg.
1″ deep, 2-3 seeds per mound, 8-12′ between mounds. Thin to 1-2 plants per mound once there are several true leaves.
